gtx6970 Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 (edited) I wish I could take all the credit for this one. But a few weeks back I picked up this builtup . It was already painted an assembled. I dis-assembled it , redid the interior in the correct red for this application. Masked off the seats and fogged some over spray black, silver, white and gold to give it a cloth insert look to it . I did all the bare metal foil trim and emblems ( it was all brushed painted silver that did nothing for the car ) Then cleaned and polished it up the best I could. Then put it back together,,, doing some minor touchups along the way . Its one I've been wanting to do ,,just never did for one reason or another. For all of a $10 purchase it looks pretty darn good . Edited November 22, 2016 by gtx6970

I've made the mistake of selling builds I've done in the past, that's not going to happen again while I'm still breathing.
AC Norton Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 you funny guy. I've made the mistake of selling builds I've done in the past, that's not going to happen again while I'm still breathing. I too have done that....many, many times over 30 years. it's a lot harder now building everything you want and replacing them.....the Ace....
1972coronet Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Love it , GTX! Such an iconic car , and you have done it justice , my friend. RIP , Cone Chevrolet ( I used visit their parts dept daily when I worked at Don Steves Chevrolet , another defunct dealership ?).Bill Thomas Racing used to be a couple of blocks away from Cone , on Juliette St in Anaheim .But , I digress ... Fantastic 409 , and a great rescue !
om617 Posted November 23, 2016 Posted November 23, 2016 Cool build, looks like you captured the 60s dragrace stance really well.
