Jon Cole Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 My other hobby... seriously, would be reading these message boards about model cars! I hardly even look in the magazines that I still have subscriptions for. Most anything I want I can find on-line. The down side is I take a lot of ###### from my model buddies because I don't build too many models a year. I guess I was "raised" on the former Hobby Heaven board, and will always be partial to the Spotlight Hobbies board that replaced it. I am glad I have found this one (MCMF); lots of good stuff here! I have heard of other boards, such as Scale Auto's, but two boards keep me busy.
Joe Nunes Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 ...I like to Eat fishies...Perch and Walleye...and more Perch...and...
Aaronw Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 You have a lot of tanks, where do you find room for the models? I like fish too, we got started with some Neon & Black Tetras in a 10 gallon tank when my son was about 3. There was a fish store up the street and when we walked by he would be glued to the glass looking at them, so we finally decided to get him a tank. Now we have a 100 gallon tank and a 29 gallon tank. Still have a pleco we got with that first tank, he(?) is about 14" long now. Bunch of Neon Tetras, still have a few of the original Black Tetras, have some Cory catfish, ghost catfish and a clown loach. Not the cheapest hobby but it is a peaceful one. Still works to keep the kid occupied too, he is almost 8 but he'll be tearing around the house with a friend or two then it will get quiet and we'll find them all just looking at the fish. Way better way to occupy kids than a TV.
nomad56 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Evilone I love fish too! I have three tanks and a pond. I have a 100 gal that currently contains 3 Oscars, app. 2yrs old. I had a pair in the tank, with a 22" pleco, that bred until the female, Fekicia, died about a year and a half ago. The male, Oscar (originally they were the "Odd Couple", Oscar and Felix, until we discovered they really weren't odd), went into mourning and wouldn't eat. I fed him some feeder goldfish and he put it in his mouth and spit it out. I finally decided to put in some juvy Oscars, and he adopted them. He raised them up and they were nearly as big as he was when he died a few months ago. So now I have the three. I will upload some pictures of Oscar and Felicia for you soon. We have a 55 gal tank with African Cichlids and a 29 gal with angels, and tetras. My pond is a total of 200 gallons. Currently no fish, but have had goldfish, koi, and tadpoles that became frogs. I grew up putting model cars together and have worked on some with my grandson. I keep saying I am going to put together the 4 or 5 kits I currently have in boxes, but have not got around to it yet. I see you have built a few models. I like your fish. How many tanks do you have? I barely have room for the three tanks I have. Keep both your hobbies going.
evilone Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 pleas hold your jaw i dont want to be sued for jaw injuries after you see the number of tanks i have ok you have a good hold on it? how about now? cool good thing your holding your jaw! i have 9 fish tanks 2:55 gallon 1:30 gallon 1:29 gallon 1:20 gallon 3:10 gallons and 1:1/12 gallon i hate the price of gas it causes everything to go up!
Harold Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Fish are very tranquil. Although I have none, I enjoy watching them- I can sit for hours and watch the plot unfold. Quite a nice setup you have there, evilone. My other hobbies are my college career, GT4, Command and Conquer and my dog, Roxy.
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 If all those tanks burst at once,it'll wash you 3 miles away lol.

old low&slo Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 hey evilone I know you from the other forum. hey homie I like your tanks. I also am into aquariums. right now I have just a 70 set up with 3 oscars and a dempsey. I have another 15 tanks that are not set up right now. when I get the basement finished I will set them up and get back into breeding angels. I used to sell them to the local pet stores. its a great way to help the hobby pay for itself. if you do decide to go saltwater or reef aquariums let me know as I can reccomend a couple of good books for you to read. to help shorten the learning curve for you and lol save up your coin cause the startup expense for one aint cheap !!!
slantasaurus Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 You have about as many tanks as my best friend. He has a little of everything from aquatic frogs to a bass he caught at a local pond. I used to have a 30 gal, but I'm not good at keeping up with them though. I've thought about setting up another tank just to give my cats something to do......fish tanks are like cat TV.
Guest zebm1 Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 It's illegal to keep Gamefish in a private tank.....better hope your friend don't get a visit from the Game and Fish Wardens.....can run up to 10K fines in some states.......
