Monty Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 (edited) Saw this post from truck builder Evan Hermel on the Spotlight Hobby board this morning, and I figured it might be of interest to those of you who like to do detail work with markers. http://wwwboard2.spotlighthobbies.com/cgi-bin/bbs62x/webbbs_config.pl?md=read;id=150062From the picture he posted, this appears to be the best looking "chrome" I've seen from a marker, and Dick Blick Art Supplies shows they have them in 1 mm, 2 mm & 4 mm tips. I don't know how well the paint holds up or whether it takes clear coats well, but I thought you guys might find this worth checking into. Edited December 28, 2016 by Monty
Jim N Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 That is shiney. Thanks for providing the information.
GeeBee Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I bought one of their 1mm pens a few months ago, brilliant bit of kit !
ZTony8 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I've been giving this chrome issue some thought recently and have come to the conclusion that what we're trying to duplicate as chrome is really stainless trim. Stainless isn't quite as deeply shiny as BMF. So what we need is a good stainless sheen foil.
