junkyardjeff Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Just picked one up today at a local hobby shop and was wondering if anyone has modified them,I was wondering what it takes to lower them a little.
junkyardjeff Posted January 6, 2017 Author Posted January 6, 2017 Started on it tonight and looks to be a nicely detailed kit,not too happy with the rims and tires since they are like the ones that come in the Revell kits and make it difficult to use different tires but will come up with a solution.
mikemodeler Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Just picked one up today at a local hobby shop and was wondering if anyone has modified them,I was wondering what it takes to lower them a little.Haven't attempted to lower one yet, but I remember an episode of Gas Monkey Garage where they swapped in the front end of a Crown Vic to lower the truck and give it better handling. Not sure if the twin I beam can be lowered much in stock form, so a front end swap might be in order.
mk11 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 The two and four wheel drive parts from the amt Ford trucks will swap onto the frame with no problems... advantage being the metal axles that expand wheel choice greatly. Otherwise, you can look at the various projects involving these trucks and get more suspension ideas. mike
junkyardjeff Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 I am going to build this one at stock height and might get another to modify later.
