Johnt671 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 As I was going through an old parts box that was in my attic when I moved in looking for parts for a trade, some of the parts seemed to jump out at me. It started to look like I could make a car out of the junk yard parts in the box. This is what I've found so far. A body, interior and frame, and a flat four cylinder motor. I guess this a a 32 Ford body? I dug some more and a car started to appear. I plan to build this as a car from the late 40's to early 50's that some one just out of school or back from WW2 and working on a budget would have made. Some of the parts I've found that fit are some what broken and a couple are from other kits don't fit quite right so like the imaginary 1:1 it will be a junker. I don't even think I'll repaint the body to save the patina. The really nice thing about this car will be that it it isn't going to a problem if I mess something up. It should be a lot of fun, plus it will be a free car. I didn't post this in the workbench section because I won't be doing much with this for awhile.
Snake45 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Oh I LOVE this kinda stuff! Cheap is good, cheaper is better, and FREE is BEST! Drive on!
Johnt671 Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 When I start on this one I'll bump this up to let folks know, and start a thread in the workbench section. Thanks for looking.
DumpyDan Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Nice save, I have the same problem when I start routing through the old part. First you see stuff you long forgot you had and then your mind starts thinking of what you could make with that, and off you go just started another project..................Gotta love it.
Johnt671 Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 This is where I left off to build a 68 Charger. When I finish the Charger I'm going back to this build. I think I'm going to do a story along with the build as I've seen other members do with their models. It will involve a person in high school building his first car from junkyard pieces and his search through the yard will follow my search through the parts box. I think it will be fun to do. Like I said above, I'll bump this up when I get going on this.
Johnt671 Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 (edited) For those who were interested in this, I'm starting a thread in the workbench section with a small story about the young guy building the car. Edited February 9, 2017 by Johnt671
DrKerry Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Sometimes they are the best projects to find!!!!!
Johnt671 Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Sometimes they are the best projects to find!!!!!Yes, and best of all it's all free. I'm going to try and and keep it all made from parts in the junkyard box, and not use anything from kits I've bought over the last few years. So far the only thing not in the junk box is the tires.
