Is anyone offering scale hose (or coated wire) with writing on it? I just checked Detail Master and Model Car Garage with no luck.

If all else fails, you could always check at a business that does cable/wire manufacturing and ask for their scraps. They have no use for it, and it'll either be recycled or end up in a landfill anyway.

Couldn't hurt to ask. ;)

I had a spool of wire I found at the garage dump, don't know what it was, but perfect size for heater hoses. I lost the roll a few years ago. It was black with lettering down the sides and had fine white hairs instead of wire.  Some sort of fibre cable?? no clue, but was great and have never seen anything like it since.

I got something you might want to try. The train hobbyist have miniature heat shrink, mine has lettering on it, but the store photo doesn't so might be a gamble.

I also got more from a different website that lets you buy by the linear foot. It has writing, but very light an might not be enough for you. It shrinks smaller so I plan to use it for spark plug wire boots. No more trying to cut those tiny wire insulation to size, use heatshrink tubing to shrink down to the "plug" wire.

Scott's reply reminded me of these that I purchased recently. Heat shrink tubing in various sizes with microscopic printing on it. I purchased a couple feet of each size, enough to last a lifetime with sizes to do spark plug boots all the way up to heater and radiator hoses. For complex bends like a radiator hose, bend some hard wire to shape then add the heat shrink tubing, looks good.
