Other than for my fourth graders class field trip, I have't been to a top level sports game in ten plus years.  Both professional teams in Cincinnati are pathetic.  Reds set an MLB record for the most home runs this past season and no one from the managerial/coaching staff were canned.  Bengals.....missed the playoffs again and they keep the 0-7 in the playoffs head coach.  No comment needed with the revolving door of players in trouble with the law.

Give me the minor league....Single A Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Reds)  or the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones (affiliate of the Nashville Predators).  Guys that put forth the effort to get to move up instead of the $$$.  Players meet the fans and sign autographs.

Here is the reason for the rant....An excerpt from the Cincinnati Reds....

It took Billy Hamilton until his fourth big-league season to crack the millionaires' club. The Reds are paying him less than they'll pay Ken Griffey Jr. this year - and Griffey hasn't played here since 2008.  If you count Griffey Jr., Hamilton is ninth on the Reds payroll for 2017. That's because the Reds are still paying the 47-year-old Hall of Famer $3,593,750 in annual deferred payments - and will until 2025(In fairness to Griffey, that's because he willingly took less up-front money when he signed a nine-year, $116.5 million contract to come here in 2000. And he signed for less than market value at that.

I just received my tickets to a Mets game today, $165.00 per ticket for good seats in September in a game that will hopefully mean something. When you consider the cost of forms of entertainment, it's worth every cent in my book. Players should get everything they can, the same with a musician or an actor or you in your job. Whatever the industry generates, those that matter most should be payed fairly.

And if the Reds could have fielded ANY sort of team around him, Griffey would have won them several championships.

I have a problem with the often ridiculous amounts of money sports figures, entertainers, and idiot CEOs (among others) get paid...particularly when they conduct themselves like irresponsible greedy spoiled children, or set themselves up as arbiters of public opinion when they're ignorant concerning their subject matter.

A lot of them couldn't survive if they actually had to work for a living, producing something of tangible value on a daily basis, with a "the buck stops here" level of responsibility.

And I just don't give a damm about sports unless I'm participating. I have no interest in breathlessly adoring other grown men getting millions of bucks for chasing and throwing little balls...

Just my opinion, to which I'm entitled. Yours may vary.   ;)

I'm an absolute lover of boxing/ufc mma.I get it that when Rousey lost to Nunes -Rousey was the name who brought the the attention. But she didn't even have the title and lost in 48 seconds.Reportedly Nunes got 100 grand and a 100 bonus.Rousey supposedly got 3 million.Does seem a little weird but I guess that's the way it goes !!1
