Hunter_alexander Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 Your build is looking great! That light ... I'm having a difficult time refraining from toilet humor on that one. Haha I know right? Eh it works great and was only 38 bucks at harbor frieght
KWT Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Looking good... If you don't mind me asking, what did you use for the interior paint wise?
Hunter_alexander Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 Sure thing. I used SEM interior paint/dye.
espo Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 I have been enjoying following your build. I had a Monte Carlo SS that I ordered new in '86. It was white with the dark red cloth interior. When I built a model of that car I used Model Master #2904 Klin Red for the interior. It is a gloss finish but with a light dusting of flat clear at arms length the finish looked just like cloth. Just a thought for the future, but the interior dye spray might be even closer.
Hunter_alexander Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 OK, need help. One of 2 things I can do. 1. How do you mask off the car to paint the interior headliner without getting the paint on the outside, or2. How do you get paint from a spraycan ready to paint with a brush?
Hunter_alexander Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 Never mind. Took the time (pita) to mask the exterior of the car off to spray the interior headliner etc. Turned out great.
Hunter_alexander Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 Ok, fighting the flu but interior is done. Or at least as good as it's gonna get.
KWT Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 That interior looks pretty sweet... Good job! I think this has inspired me to start a 83 h/o kits now. Just gonna have to pick up a couple more before I do...
Hunter_alexander Posted February 18, 2017 Author Posted February 18, 2017 Thanks. Seeing as how this is the first kit I've built in over 20 years not too bad. Been waiting for a gbody cutlass kit for years now and when I found out they were finally available I had to get at least one. Prob get another one of these for the 84 H/O. Got the first primer coat on the body.
AthOz Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Turning alrightI hear you with the shaking hands. Have you tried using a toothpick? I did over the weekend for some tie-rods and worked a charm. Not so much for an air cleaner rubberAre you using enamel or acrylic paints there?
Hunter_alexander Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Thanks. Actually using both types of paint. Hands are getting better just relearning how to brace one hand while doing the tiny detail work.
