andy12646 Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 AMT kit #6926. Lower body racing stripe decals were horrible in every way! Gave up. Now looking for a QUALITY replacement. Any suggestions? I found some Mustang GT 350 stripe decals that appear to be the same width but the length would definitely be a problem when removing the GT 350 logo. I thought of trying to make them myself but not sure if my ink-jet printer would work. Also, thought of using 1:1 auto pin stripe tape. I would have to trim the width a tad to make them appear to be in scale. ANY input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance as I'm not sure how to respond to your suggestions.
espo Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 How comfortable are you with masking and painting your own ?? My experience with decal stripes has been pretty disappointing also. If they even hold together being that long they still show the body color through.
Kit Basher Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Your inkjet printer would work, with some limitations:1. You can't print white.2. If you print on clear decal paper, the body color will show through the decal, unless the body color is white.3. If you print on white decal paper, the separations between the stripes will be white, instead of body color. If option 3 won't work for you, I agree with David that masking and painting is your best bet.
Michael in Illinois Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Check with Keith Marks, I see he has a listing for a 66 fairlane. Very good quality decals.
andy12646 Posted February 4, 2017 Author Posted February 4, 2017 Thanks, Guys! I haven't ruled out masking and painting. Just would have to build up my nerve!

Then I can use that color to separate the decal colors...I'll also use that color to outline the entire decal, so trimming is not as critical and there's less chance of white edges.
andy12646 Posted February 8, 2017 Author Posted February 8, 2017 FYI: Went the Pinstripe tape route. Worked GREAT! However, I still would like to try printing decals. Just not delicate stripes.
