Were talking old 60s era promos . not warped , steel plate bottoms with friction motors,,,if somebody painted these can the paint be safely removed . I know it depends on what kind of paint was used determines what method of removal to use , lets say it looks like brush-on pactra or another 60s era brush on,,,,,,,,,,,,

I've never worked with a promo but some CSC (Castrol Super Clean) or some brake fluid should strip just about any paint job. Soak it for about 24 hrs, get an old toothbrush, and the paint should come off.

Back in one of their past issues Jairus suggested using yur wife's fingernail remover to remove chrome or even old paint. I tried it, don't have tha wife anymore, but I do have some bottles of that stuff. Took tha chrome off in about two hours. BTW, tha stuff in fingernail polish remover is just acetone....never used tha Castrol stuff, but tha beauty of acetone is...yu spill it, it just evaporates in contact with air.

I wouldn't recommend nail polish remover unless the body is diecast. Sometimes it works great without problems, but it can lead to a mess because the acetone eats the plastic real bad. I was able to get away with it once but the last time I used that it destroyed the body. If you decide to use nail polish remover use NON acetone.
