masking w/ Silly Putty: will it pull up paint underneath?

When masking with Silly Putty, will it pull up the paint underneath?  Thanks

I have had very good luck when masking with Silly Putty.  Actually, I have used the cheaper Dollar Store stuff.  It never once pulled any of my paint off.  I would be happy to share a few pics of the car if needed.

Make sure you use Silly Putty, not Play Doh...Play Doh leaves a residue behind.
