it is stll in the mock up stage I need to find some good material for the flat deck as it is just cardboard right now.  It has a hand made Lincoln electric ranger 305g welder I still need to paint the black on the welder. For the truck colour I am thinking black or white

let me know what you think?

Any suggestions welcome for I have only been building models for the past 3 years and want to learn more

Well....You've got a decent start, but you ain't lying when you said you need some better material.....Try plastic-models.com to snag some flat sheet or whatever styrene......They've got all kinds of little tidbits as well as models......Or even sceneryproducts.com.....They've got some pretty good double diamond plate that can be had for a song......

Try donmillshobbies@aol.com.  He has treadplate in 4" x 6" sheets that would be just right for the deck of the truck.  Evergreen plastic sheet stock is great stuff also as are the various structural shapes and tubular stock.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I will go with the evergreen sheet styrene because I have used some in the past. I was tinking maybe .125 thick but haven't ever used some that thick and I don't know how it will be to cut. If anyone knows of a beter size or has used the .125 sheet styrene I wouldn't mind knowing how good it is

.125 is equal to 1/8th of an inch, which would be VERY thick in scale and not the easiest to work with. If you have a hobby store nearby that stocks styrene sheets, you should be okay with the .040 or .060 thick as it will look more realistic and easier to cut with an X-acto knife and a straight edge.

As mentioned, if you are going for a diamond plate look, the Don Mills scale plastic diamond plate is spot on perfect.

Nice work on the bed and welder, it's always good to make patterns with cardboard before cutting plastic! Any chance you have dimensions or drawings for that welder?

Thanks for the advice. I don't have any drawings of the welder I just guess as I built but the dimensions are approximately 1.85"long 1.20"tall and 0.95" wide.
