I bought this at the hobby shop yesterday....it was open, from a collection they had taken in a few years ago. I had been debating buying it for almost a year and I finally broke down and bought it. I did a quick scan of the contents before I took it home, but, I scanned it too quickly.

I didn't get any tires! So, I'm now needing a set of tires!! If anyone could help, I'd be eternally gratefull.

I'm also looking for information on the kit. It's from Imai, but there is no copywright information so I have no clue when it's from. I keep track of my collection based on kit numbers and issue dates so right now I'm kind of at a loss on how to list it. I would venture a guess that it's late 80s or early 90s...The decals almost look Cartograph quality.

If I can find tires, I will build it! It looks pretty straightforward, and it looks like fun too. It's molded in yellow but has alot of chrome and some black too.

The instructions are entirely in Japanese, so I'll be on my own for building it...it doesn't look too diffacult though. The instructions show a motorized engine and working lights, which I think think my kit has either. I know it has no engine, but that's ok as I wouldn't use it anyway.

Not sure if I can still help on this. But My dad has the Bandit, and though similar, I think it is different as I recall. he has about 4 or 5 race trucks like this.

Billy, I can't really tell because of the slight glare on the box, but does it appear to have drag slicks on it? If so, since the kit is 1:32 scale, you might be able to use 1:25 scale drag tires on it.

Imai offered several truck model kits during the 1980s. One of the more notable was the off scaled Ford CL 9000 cab over. The quality of the parts is typically high for the Japanese kits, but overly simplified and grossly inaccurate. Evidently all Imai truck kits had motors and working lights. Your particular kit's subject category is not that popular for truck modelers per se. After the massive truck model craze of the 1970s, model manufactures were trying to rekindle interest in the genre by linking racing and trucking, which was popular in places such as Germany and Australia, but never really caught on in the US and Canada. Since the model is a cartoonish facsimile of a Kenworth drag truck, any scale wheels would work. It’s not like it will be judged on 1:1 accuracy at a model show!
