JollySipper Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 A quick update for you guys! This is the ride height from the box pretty much, I only flipped the front spindles so it would sit in the lower position..... Also have the bumpers detailed.......
JollySipper Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 Thanks, John! I put a little elmers glue over the headlights so they wouldn't look like just chrome.......
426-Hemi Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Thanks, John! I put a little elmers glue over the headlights so they wouldn't look like just chrome....... So how'd you get the shadowing on it? Looks like well painted job you did, unless I'm seeing things again! LOL The headlights, yeah, I have yet to try Elmers glue, BUT I do use Testors Clear Glass Glue which if you look at my completed '68 Roadrunner will show the effect much the same you did here just used a different product!
JollySipper Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 I guess I just got lucky and they turned out decent! I've been experimenting with different techniques for making a vinyl texture for the top.... that's the next challenge...... Thanks
426-Hemi Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 You sound like me! I second guess myself on the grille work a lot..... (MOST of my builds) so When I post what I did, and all everyone says it looks GREAT so. I'll take there word for it, as I think its OK nothing special, but, I guess, thats just how I am! -I'm the same way on interiors! I don't think I'm all that good at them, but, I seem to get told otherwise, Like-wise here, that grille turned out GREAT that Argent "silver" you used for the "back" shadowing turned out GREAT! What exact color did you use for that?In any case its NICELY done!
JollySipper Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 John, I believe all you're seeing is the shadow between the headlight buckets and the grill area.... looking at these pics I may go back and dig the glue out of the headlights and redo it...... Really, I'm more proud of the rear bumper, even tho the lenses don't fit the holes very well.........
426-Hemi Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 TJ, I'm not sure, I've taken your pic, and added my own "pointing" out insignia to show ya, and even a different pic angle looks good! The rear bumper does look good! The lens made to fit "in" or from behind? Any idea on color of the car!?
JollySipper Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 Hey, John.... I've sent you a PM, friend............
JollySipper Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 Here's some progress for you guys! I'm working on stuff other than the body because I still need some half-round to run some trim....... Thanks for looking in..............
JollySipper Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 Still working on this one! I need some help, tho..... The interior paint just will not cover the orange, so I've put a wanted post in the proper forum for the parts I need in either gray or white. Will have some more progress on this one soon.
Mr mopar Posted August 20, 2017 Posted August 20, 2017 looks good , just want to know did you cut the inner fenders from the top or underneath ?
JollySipper Posted August 20, 2017 Author Posted August 20, 2017 Hey, Doug! I cut the inner fenders from the '71 from the top using my trusty Trumpeter scriber...... Nifty little tool....
JollySipper Posted August 24, 2017 Author Posted August 24, 2017 Here's the vinyl top trimmed out..... First time doing this. Kinda glue-bombed it a little. Almost ready for some color coats! Thanks for checking it out..............
JollySipper Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 Put the color coats on today! This paint is really pretty until it dries, looks kinda muddy now......... The clear will bring the shine back..... Thanks again for viewing.........
JollySipper Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 I wanted to go ahead and clear while we're having such nice weather here......
JollySipper Posted August 25, 2017 Author Posted August 25, 2017 Once the clear cures, I may go over it with some Scratch-X to try to bring out the shine better.....All that's left is to paint the interior, vinyl top, and do some foil work....... Then comes final assembly!
JollySipper Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Final mockup just to see how it's gonna look........... I think the old man will be pleased...........
JollySipper Posted September 4, 2017 Author Posted September 4, 2017 Thanks for following this one, Fellas....... It's now under glass
Bob Ellis Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 My it problems were that I wanted a 74 interior not a 71 Then I had to fit the amt chassis to the MPC interior tub.
