regular guy Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Does the General Lee 1/16th inch version have a full frame?Just a comment on Tweedy Bird Big Daddy Ed Roth showcar. That's a bobbed T roadster.Guess there are others but a lot of T kits have the pickup bed.Not many have the '27 T turtle deck though.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) It's somewhat doubtful the "General Lee" kit would have a "full frame", as the car it's based on is a unibody. Far as the "Tweedy Bird" goes, it's actually "Tweedy Pie", and is a 1923 T bucket on shortened '32 rails. It has a gas tank behind the bucket, not a turtledeck. Full story and description of the car here... http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Tweedy_Pie Roth's car... There WAS a "Tweety Bird" but it was an entirely different car from a different builder... https://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=23038 Though there are a fair few 1/25 and 1/8 models of T-buckets with turtledecks, the '26-'27 T has never been produced in styrene, nor has its turtledeck. A '26-'27 T-bucket with turtledeck has been produced in resin, however. Maybe 2 or 3. Edited May 13, 2017 by Ace-Garageguy
regular guy Posted May 13, 2017 Author Posted May 13, 2017 (edited) AceYou know where I was headed with the chassis question.Get the kit for a 1/16 Visible drive train w/Visible chassis. Here's the Jimmy Flintstone turtle deck body.https://www.hobbylinc.com/jimmyflintstone-1929-ford-ala-kart-body-for-amt-resin-model-vehicle-accessory-1:25-scale-nb227It's a '19-23 with a turtledeck .Here's what Unlimited Fiberglass full scale has in a 26-27 T body.http://www.up22.com/t_bucket.htm#T-127Scroll down bottom to T-223.Wonder what significancce of '24-25 was? There is that one '25 AMT kit.Might have been an 'in the know' good body to get. regular guy Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 Found out difference between 1923 Model T and '24 to 27.Low radiator and high radiator.Cowl has dogleg in it to match hood on '19 to '23.Strait cowl on '25-27.
Daddyfink Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 The 1/16th General Lee is based on the stock car chassis kit and thus, it will be a full tube chassis with some stock style parts. Not my build, just for reference
regular guy Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 Thanks DaddyfinkFigured out not to hack our 1/8 Lindberg Big Red T or Exterminator dragster kits just for the chassis parts.Just to going to make them from scratch. Can use a 1/16 drive train and chassis just to keep around for visualization.Pretty sure the '60 Ford Starliner that's available now has a separate chassis. That would make a good 'Visible Chassis' and Visible V8.It's 1/25 but better than nothing.
