dlh Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 This is the Hasegawa Samba. I've tried different ways, including sharpies, ink markers, freehand painting, but I didn't like any of them.I think next I'll try BMF masking. Any other ideas on coloring these? Thanks,Dave
BigTallDad Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 How about thin black thread?Use a cotton based (not a synthetic material) thin black thread. After cutting to length, soak it in diluted Elmer's white cement then apply...any smudges can be wiped off with Windex.

The side windows have a well defied edge and look good done with the thinnest Rapidograph (sp?) pen. These roof window gaskets are not as well defined. I'm going to try one tomorrow masking with BMF.Thanks,Dave
935k3 Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 It's allot of work but I would mask and airbrush. If you use Tamiya Acrylic you fix mistakes with ammonia and a tooth pick.

JollySipper Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 It might would have a little shine to it, but you could try black foil......
dlh Posted June 22, 2017 Author Posted June 22, 2017 (edited) Done. I masked with BMF and airbrushed with flat black. Not a great job, but acceptable. I spent more time fiddling with alternatives than it took to just mask and paint. Dave Edited June 22, 2017 by dlh emogie
