Fat Brian Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 With the sudden wealth of Mack kits available or soon to be which one would be the most accurate to use as a donor for a B model conversion? The DM600 arguably has the most detailed chassis but the frame is flared in the front and I don't know if that feature was available on the B models. The R685 and Cruiseliner both have straight frames but I believe the engine in the Cruiseliner is a later variant that was after B production ended.
plastic trucker Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 The R model Mack has the flared frame too. But I've been using them on my B's.
Bennyg Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 American b model Macks had a variety of chassis rails. Some had the dm600 type rails, which flair at the front and have the fish belly profile, others had an almost straight rial that flares at the front. Australia got the later. The engine and gearbox from the dm600 is definely the way to go. Ben
