You can try sanding the tread with some 220 grit sandpaper to give 'em that "on the road" look.

In the past I've scrubbed tires with Ajax and a toothbrush to kinda take the "blackness" off of them. Tires aren't really black but a shade of gray................scrubbing 'em makes a difference. :lol:

Another way to lose the unrealistic shine, but less labor-intensive than the Ajax scrub: simply shoot them with a coat of Testor's Dullcote.

Another way to get a worn look on the tires is after you sanded the tread, take some dirt and rub it all over the tire. It will tone down the black and give the tire a worn look on the tread as well as the side wall.

Laquer thinner on a rag takes off the shine and makes the tires very rubbery, then as harry said, dulcoat them and that shineless flat look will stay
