LotusGuy238 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Hi all, I am currently working on a tamiya F40 model kit. I am converting it to the LM or Competizione version. I have made everything I need so far but have discovered a problem... The wheels. No one seems to make the correct OZ wheels for this model. I have a 3D printer and have tried to make them but am unsatisfied with the results. I'm not the best at modeling but I was wondering if there was a mate in the community that would be willing to help me with the 3D modeling. I have the basic wheel but I need help converting it to an assembly such as a scale production wheel. Any help would be appreciated. cheers, Evans P.S. I have included a picture of the wheels.
afx Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 The Fujimi kit includes the best version of these wheels I have found.
LotusGuy238 Posted July 18, 2017 Author Posted July 18, 2017 Would you have any idea where I could just purchase the wheels?
afx Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 If Fujimi offers them as just a wheel/tire set I have never seen them. Wish they would though I would like to have a set myself.
LotusGuy238 Posted July 18, 2017 Author Posted July 18, 2017 I haven't seen them either. I may try to find on of those kits that has been started or has some parts missing. If not I'll just have to make them. If I can successfully make them I'll just make resin copies.
aurfalien Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Hi,Would you consider buying the Fujimi kit as it's listed on eBay for ~$22 which includes shipping. Fujimi tire/wheel kits seem to run $10-$15 on avg. So for ~$7 more you get everything you need.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fujimi-RS-114-1-24-Ferrari-F40-LM-Plastic-Model-Kit-F-S-from-Japan-/162593143391?epid=1869104781&hash=item25db4e7a5f:g:xAwAAOSwCU1YuMVvI think that kit also has the cool little OZ decals that go on the wheels.Although I think to have seen a Tamiya F40 Competizione kit as well.
LotusGuy238 Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 Thanks for the info. That's a good price I'll check it out. I might have to become the owner of one of these kits.
935k3 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 I would consider using the Fujimi body. The nose is to long on the Tamiya if you look at the real car.
aurfalien Posted July 26, 2017 Posted July 26, 2017 Hi,I didn't know that the Tamiya kit was off but when I was evaluating which kit to buy, the Fujimi simply looked a lot better.Although I will admit it's a bit quirky and I'm sure not as polished of a kit as the Tamiya which are usually perfect in fit and finish.
