Oldschool4x4 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Have a question about the street funnies series, it has to do with the Zoomie headers, from pictures I've located on the web, I see no way that they actually hook up to the engine and stick out under the doors. So question is, do they in anyway hook into the exhaust system or, are they just glued to the floor board? I have some older MPC kits that I want to build as street funnies. Thanks
dragcarz Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Back in the 70s these street funny car headers were sold for real cars. They bolted to your headers there was an exhaust pipe, a muffler, and then, the tail pipe if you will, dumped into four pipes that looked like funny cars had, exhaust only came out of one of the pipes though. I'll try and find a pic to post.
Oldschool4x4 Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 Thanks Jesse, that is the stuff I first found when starting my search for info, doesn't really answer the question about the zoomies, although the fuzzy picture does show that it has what looks like a muffler, which explains Rogers response. Thanks Roger. So now the next question: What tires came in the kits? And are they in anything thats out now?ThanksRobert
Daddyfink Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) I think the front tires are the Pirelli style tires that came in kits like the WIllie Borsch and Black WIdow altereds. The rears I can only assume are the thinner version of the MPC drag slicks that came in just about every kit they made in the 70's I know that the SSlasher Chevelle kit retained most of its Funny parts and then they disappeared from the scene. Here is the Vega with the only clear shot I am able to find with the tires. Maybe someone with an actual kit can chime in. Edited July 28, 2017 by Daddyfink
Oldschool4x4 Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 Thank you very much, I think I now have enough info to try and build a couple of these. I have an old MPC goat and a MPC Super bee to start out with. Again thanks everyone. Robert
