Found these 2 kits recentlybut need to know a few things before I dive in with the glue tube!

Is there any real value in either of these two? The(SMP?) Impala is half way through a resto when I got it do I finish or sell? looks like it hd custom parts on it and some script detail is sanded.

The AMT Toronado looks all there, some built and enamel painted so should not be hard to strip.

I need some heavy cash for a holiday(vacation to most of you) in Sunny Italy. How far will these get me there. ;)2008_0623Trains0005218.jpg2008_0623Trains0007.jpg

;) Hot Rod, I sure wouldn't plan a holiday around em.They're only worth what someone is willing to pay for 'em.Maybe in Merry ol they might go for more than here, but even then, they'd be better if they were mint.Have you thought about the Bay? that's probably your best chance to get any kind of money for them. But then thats just my opinion.Wish you luck.

I would not sell the smp impala. I would finish the resto and put it on my shelf. As for the toronado well just keep that one too. Wouldnt make much of a difference.

Yo! thanks all. Looks like a trip to the pizza shop is all I will be able to afford If I sell these  . Maybee sell a few more for the big trip.

Well at least I can have some fun and learn a bit on the way.

Yes I have sold some stuff on the bay. I once got £80 for Pyro 52 Chevy!!!!!(thats around $150 at todays exchange rate)

Thanks, John

I had a friend now sadly deceased, who had a 59 Ragtop Cadillac. He took his new wife on honeymoon to Cornwall in it and ran out of gas(petrol), blocked the lanes for hrs.

The AA,a British repair and relay service, brought him some fuel, 2 gallons as opposed to the normal 1 because there was no service station in the imediate area.

My Cad, I had thought of adding a set of sharks teeth by the front wheel arch just for laughs. I tripped and bashed my head on that tailfin tip! hurt like hell, had to get rid of it in case I reversed into anybdy. I did not wish to make anyone into a Kaddy Kabab

The pic was taken 20 years ago on a friends farm

Did you check my signature? I thought of adding 'When Dinosaurs ruled the earth'

In the now infamous book by Ralph Nader "Unsafe At Any Speed", he relates a story of how a kid who was playing street baseball was trying to catch a pop fly ball------the kid had the misfortune of running right into a 1961 Cadillac tailfin which pierced his heart!

'61 and '62 Caddies also had those lower tailfins so you had to watch your shins too! :P

Yours looks like a '60 from your avatar, so yeah.............they can be dangerous as they were just as pointy!

This was my dream car, still is but this one is no longer with us. Ended its days as a doner for a 59 ;)

Car was as rotten as a bad apple, had a shot hydro from a hearse, raplaced that with a 60 box that also burnt out, then the shells turned in the block, I rebuilt the engine and it sang like a bird. Could not afford to repair the transmission, then my son was born and nappies were a little more important than my dream car.

Oh well, I built this as some sort of cosolation(why arn't there any crying smiley's)

Thanks, John
