Guest Gramps-xrds Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 This is how a lot of old guys used to channel a car. No z'd frame just lower the body and make the interior fit
MonoPed Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Simple build that looks cool - yeah, I'm diggin it!!
CB Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 NICE Gramps REAL NICE I take it a speed bump might be bad for the radiator (thats the way I like em though) love the old skool stuff That's why Gramps positioned them headers the way he done did Led! When ya sees that ol speddbumpd comin, ya just blimps the trottle purty good and 'float' the front end up & over the bump! Man, is that nice Gramps! Love them tires, specially the rears. Now I see's why ya aint gots no burnouts on yer dioramsa! When ya gonna smoke 'em??
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Thanks everyone. This is how we channeled them back in the 60s. Simple, but effective.
Robert81 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Holy cow, Gramps. you are an inspiration to all us young folk that love the traditional building style.
george 53 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Bill one of the first models my brother bought home to me on leave from the Marines was AMT's 32.the same one you got there. He channeled it down like yours, and cut the interior side panels to shorten it up so the body would sit nice an low, just like yours.Even the radiator shell was left long.I asked him if the rad was to long on purpose. He said "no I just dint have a torch" and that the top on the rad had to match the top of the cowl so the hood would fit.To this day, THAT was/is the essence of a real Hot Rod to me.I love it!
Raul_Perez Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Nice old rod, Gramps!! Black and red is one of my favorite combinations!!
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Well thank you Raul, Robert & George. I like doing these the way I used to back in the 60s. It brings back fond memories of a simpler time. Their not complicated or elaborate but, they still look good on the shelf.
sdrodder Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 This is how a lot of old guys used to channel a car. No z'd frame just lower the body and make the interior fit Love this way of channeling. Love the headers too. Man i think i love to many things to list about this car.
HotRodaSaurus Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Ok,it's a diffent type of car but this is very remeniscent of Ed Iskenderians Turtle deck T. I love it
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 Ok,it's a diffent type of car but this is very remeniscent of Ed Iskenderians Turtle deck T. I love it Thanks Florian & Rodasaurus. Now that you mentioned it, it does look a lot like Eds turtle deck T, but then there were a lot of rods back in the late 50s that looked like it.
