shoopdog Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Just finished this one up. It was the oldest kit in my stash so I thought I would make it the next up, not sure exactly when it came out, late 90's maybe. Used to be big into NASCAR but not so much anymore. Decals that came with the kit were unusable so I went with Slixx decals. Hope you like it and thanks for looking.
bbowser Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Nice! One of my favorite paint schemes from back in the day.
shoopdog Posted December 5, 2017 Author Posted December 5, 2017 Thanks Bruce, Terry was one of my favorite drivers back in the day.
Old Coyote Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 (edited) Very nice build !! I have never been a fan of AMT Monte Carlos, but you made that one look good. Terry Labonte is my favorite NASCAR driver and I have built 46 of his cars (and have over 20 more to go) ........... the kit replicates the '95 Monte Carlo and the decals are for the '98/'99 Monte Carlo .............. you made them work together very well Here's my version of the '99 Kelloggs Corn Flakes Monte Carlo Edited December 5, 2017 by Old Coyote

Did you outline your # 5's? Ruined my red hood decal, just couldn't get it to line up. Not sure how much difference it made but decals I used were 1/24 and the kit 1/25. Anyway couldn't get the red hood outline to line up at all. Or was there that much change from 95 to 99.Makes a big difference on your build.
Old Coyote Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 (edited) Hey Keith .......... Yep, 46 Labonte cars built ....... the oldest is his '81 Apache Stove Buick Regal and the Newest is the 2006 Iron Man tribute Monte Carlo ................ but, as I said, I still have a bunch to do .............. just can't seem to shake off this modeling slump that I'm stuck in I double applied the red 5's on the doors on the '99 build shown above .......... the 5's on the Slixx sheet were a pale red for some reason and applying two brought out the correct color ......... it also allowed me to offset them just a hair which brought out the black outline ................. the difference in the 1/25th AMT hood shape as compared to the 1/24th Revell hood would indeed make the red outline decal almost useless ................ I masked and painted the red stripe on the '99's hood Here are the oldest and newest cars in my Terry Labonte collection The 1981 Apache Stove / Stratagraph Buick Regal that ran at the '81 Daytona 500 The 2006 Iron Man tribute Monte Carlo that sat in the Hendricks Motorsports Museum for a few months (it wasn't the 2005 that was run on the track) Edited December 6, 2017 by Old Coyote

cdntrucker Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Great work on that amt kit. Not easy to make them look great, but you did just that!
