unclescott58 Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I can't remember if I ever posted photos of this one or not. But, here it is. A Volkswagen Beetle Batmobile. I have three theories on why Batman would have Beetle Batmobile. 1. In 1969 Dick Grayson (Robin) left Bruce and Alfred to go to Hudson University. At college he still dawned his Robin outfit to fight crime. Now do you remember what college parking lots were full of in the late 60's? Volkswagen Beetles. So Robin needed a Beetle Batmobile to fit in. To be cool. 2. When the fuel crisis hit in the fall of 1973, it was hard to get gas for the Batmobile. Hence, Batman got himself a Beetle to save on gas. 3. He used this car for special cases in Europe back in the 60's. It's easier to maneuver through tight European city traffic. Any how.... On to the kit itself. I built this one about 7 or 8 years ago, I believe. I've always been a big Batman fan. And surfing the web one day I came across this Batmobile conversion kit, designed for the Polar Lights Herbie the Love Bug kit. I knew I had to have one. So I ordered it. I'm glad that I ordered it when I did. For since that time I've never been able find other photos of this kit, the kit itself, or the resin maker. It was produced by an outfit that was Academy Art & Design. And the conversion kit was called Bat-44. It was a fair kit quality wise. But, with a little work, I liked the way it turned out. It's something fun and different.
Snake45 Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 That's different and interesting. It kinda reminds me of one of the original comic boot Batmobiles.
