bobcrozier Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Another addition to my Stock/Superstock/AFX stable. The plan is to construct a timeline from 1960/61 and finishing 68/69 with the advent of the fliptop funnies. This is 1964! (I'm not doing them in order!) Pretty much box stock, but with engine bay plumbing added. With this in mind I seperated the inner fenderwalls/firewall from the body moulding and sprayed it together with the rest of the chassis. I like doing this because it means I can detail the engine and fenderwalls/firewall together without the body being in the way, and it eliminates the need to mask off the body in order to paint the fenderwalls/firewall. Extended the rear shackles (actual Shackles not on yet!) as the rear end din't appear to sit high enough (I love mock-ups). Engine done - will need a few wires and such added when the fenderwalls go on i'll keep you posted! Bob
Willy Survive Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Any updates coming soon? Can't wait to see more. The motor and rear end look great.
bobcrozier Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 Yeah - got a fair bit done recently. Body almost finished. Chassis done and dusted. just finishing up the interior (which are my least successful areas normally - so i often leave them until last - as I hate 'em!!). First proper BMF job, and it went better than I probably expected. I was bricking it when it came to running the no.11 around the door trim etc, but it came out pretty OK. I think I'm a fan of the " one big sheet per windw, trim and discard the entire centre bit ", school of thought. rather than the four seperate strips of foil method which I found difficult. I practiced first on an old body. Pics show decals on but no windows yet. may notice that there is no decal above front wheel arches, that s cus when I tried to apply - instant decal disintegration. The rest got a couple of fine clear coats to hold them together! and went on OK! Remade me own decal for the front so its OK now. Front wheels came out well. Cut out the centres from some Competition Resin American mags and set them in some self- turned rims. But then I went and forgot a valve stem - durrr! Since pic the windows gave gone in as has font and rear metalwork. Finished pics in a week or so i guess. Bob
Willy Survive Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Lookin good Bob. Love those front wheels. Can't wait to see it finished.
bobcrozier Posted August 12, 2008 Author Posted August 12, 2008 Finished pics - the sun came out briefly the other day in the UK so took the opportunity to take a few pics. Quite happy with end result - beleive me the camera is being very kind here! Things I learnt along the way: 1. Never under any circumstances ever ever ever use enamels again! Still tacky afeter 5 weeks - soft as cr*p. Even gentle handling would leave fingerprints in the paint, the only good thing being the paint was so soft I copuld polish them out! 2. There is no substitute for BMF, it was easier to apply than I thought it would be 3. I miss tamiya spraycans Bob
Harry P. Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 Things I learnt along the way: 1. Never under any circumstances ever ever ever use enamels again! Bob Amen and hallelujah! Acrylics or lacquers only...enamel is for teeth!
62SS Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Nice looking T-Bolt Bob, one of the best I've seen. Really nice job. Ed
Raul_Perez Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Very nice looking old T-Bolt, Bob!! The engine bay details look GREAT!! It makes me want to finish mine!!
Speedster Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Nice job - One of my favorite drag cars. - Super job.
Dragline Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) Looks fantastic Bob. Enamels get a bad rap. I work with them with great results. I do love laquers though. Sweet machine. Bob Edited February 6, 2010 by Dragline
