Jonathan Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I've had the Revell Wally Dallenbach Monte Carol (Woody Woodpecker) hanging around in my stash for a long time. I've decided to give it a whirl. I've never actually completed a NASCAR kit, although I've started plenty of them. Anyway ... the picture on the box clearly shows the car running in the rain - complete with single windshield wiper, and what appears to be mesh covering the air ducts in the quarter window (and maybe even under the windshield). I am assuming rain tires are being used. So ... any thoughts on 1) how can I mimic this mesh? 2) does anyone even make Nascar rain tires? 3) how is the wiper even attached? 4) what other details might be present for a car run in the rain? Lastly, does anyone have any reference pics of this particular car? thanks! (Image borrowed from Mike's Decals!)
martinfan5 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 (edited) You can use mesh screen to replicate the mesh screen, there was a taillight that was attached on the inside of the rear window, there was a defroster and the wiper motor. They are no current rain tires for that era that I am aware of. You would also need to add the fuel filler to the right side . That was just a practice run, it was not raining for the race . Vietnam Vet67 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Good luck on finding images of that car. Wally Dallenbach was a driver who never won a race in any of the NASCAR or Indy car series he raced in. Even ran the #43 Petty car and didn't last half a season so there was never a reason to photo the car or him.

For the fuel filler - it appears there is an indention where the fuel filler would normally be? For the other details you mentioned (taillight, defroster, wiper motor) - do you have any references I could see? My internet searches have not turned up much .... thanks.

Jonathan Posted January 5, 2018 Author Posted January 5, 2018 I suppose any reference pictures from this race would be helpful - they'd all have the right-hand fuel filler; stop light; wiper; etc. ... thanks!

You need to copy what is on the left side to the right side.

I have none from that race, try and Google "NASCAR road course car" or something on those lines and see what comes up on the image side. There is the full race Youtube, but I dont he got much air time during the race, give it a go ,maybe it will help. Edited January 5, 2018 by martinfan5
