Just a quick update. Got the body polished out, no wetsanding on this one, just a rag and Wizards polish. I do like this one coat clear!! I also got the vinyl top sprayed, and the body foiled, and besides painting the headliner, that pretty much finishes the body until I get closer to final assembly.

Here it's taped up before top spray.

I turned the gas tank around, narrowed the rearend to fit the big meats, and got the chassis pan all painted up . I'll paint the front and rear suspensions, and figure out my traction bars and headers. Then I can finish the engine, and I think I need to add a little wiring under the hood too. Thanks for stoppin' by

Coming along very nicely. GREAT job on the vinyl top.

I'm doing a B-M Nova also. I'm using the side pipes from the fairly new reissue of the Revell B-M '70 Chevelle.

Even though there is a slight scale difference, the pipes "look right". I'll take some photos.

In the meantime, yours is really looking good.

Great work Rob..

It doesn't seem like a whole heck of a lot of progress on the B/M Nova lately. I've been working on the engine/underhood details mostly. I scratchbuilt some Super Bite traction bars and set my stance too. I have decided on the wheels and tires from the 66 Penske Vette, but now I'm torn between redlines or Bluelines with white lettering. Any opinions on this, or anything else, feel free to speak your mind. Here's what I have so far.

Getting this one sprayed has been robbing a lot of my time the last week and a half or so. It's getting built as a curbside in Factory Olympic Gold with a black interior, I really like these wheels and tires, but it's going to get the kit supplied rally's in the end.

Adios.

Going to Iowa for a family reunion(NO,not THAT kind of reunion   ), I'm taking the gold body to polish on the road, but I won't be making any progress on the B/M for over a week and it's been a while anyway, so here's what I've been up to.

I've decided on the BB 69 Camaro headers(thanks guys), but they they looked a little plain oob so I made collector flanges/block off plates and some flanges at the head. I painted them flat white, and started weathering them to look like, during installation, they were banged of the frame, etc, but not off the steering box..... cause there isn't one  . Now I need to figure out how to make 1:25 grease monkey prints on them haha. I made a voltage regulator and wiring from some Evergreen and speaker wire strands, twisted together and painted. I also started to add the carb linkage to the..............carb?.

Here's a closer shot of the traction bars setting in place, after paint and a wash.

69nova108.jpg

I got the plug wires all glued in place, better shot of the throttle plate too.

I've been watching this one since day one and it's coming along great. Have a good trip to Iowa, I don't get back nearly as often as I should.

<_< Rob, believe it or not, your traction bars look just like M.A.S. Traction masters, which were what I had on my Nova, And they worked great! You made them ,yes? cause I KNOW they're not available in ANY kit. GREAT BUILD!

Ahhhhh home..............as much as I like Iowa, it feels good to be back, and in the swing of things. First is a shameless plug for ya, and the stash I picked up at MVR Hobby on Spring Street in Davenport. It's my first stop every time I'm in town, models(90% automotive), diecast, and related paraphernalia from floor to ceiling. If ever in the area, stop by and see them, they are the last independent in the area. I support this message :D

OK progress report. I managed to get both interiors finished, sans the shifter in the B/M car, and I'll say they both built up real nice. I added a little texture to the dash pad area when I sprayed the vinyl top, sealed everything, then sprayed with SEM vinyl paint and detail painted. I also got the body polished and foiled on Goldy, with a little luck I can get it finished up tonite and start assembling and wiring the B/M machine. welp, that's about all I got for now.

BTW I need a real nice Hurst shifter for the B/M Nova, can anyone point me to a good kit or resin source for one? Thanks much

######....those seats look comfy enough to sit in....Looks great Rob.

Hey, you did a fantastic job on the slapper bars too man, very kool addition. I'll be using the kit ones, as they're what I'm more accustomed to seeing..they will get some minor mods tho...(thanks Lyle)

Haven't found that Hurst shifter yet....been thru most of my stash boxes, but still got a couple to search thru........If it shows up man, I'll get a pic to you, see if it's useable for ya. ;)

Goldie is done, will post under glass. Not much progress on BM car, I got the dope light and all the windows glued in, now it's rearview mirror and shifter then I can glue the interior in.

I was playing around the other night and assembled and threw a quick coat of paint on the rear spoiler from the BM 69 Camaro kit. I'm not using it on this car, just checking how it looks. I'll save it for my next BM nova which will have the full boogie stripe pkg.. HeyStump, I thought one might look good on your Nova(you've gotta have one in your stash), even if it does remind me of a 340 Duster from the rear. Just a thought and some pics to see if you like it. Any way, I am home sick from work so I'm headed down to my model room for an overnighter. Progress in a few days..............hopefully.

Aye....that does suit to a degree, don't it........hmmmm...and yes, I do have one in my stash Rob.....;)

I was also wondering how a 70 Camaro spoiler would look......haven't tried that yet....?? May look into it... :P

Really like how "goldie" come up too man, looks great.

A quick update. Interior is finished, OOB except the steering wheel. It's glued in along with the chassis and engine.

69nova297.jpg

Now I'm wiring..................and man am I slooowww at it. I normally don't detail this much, but I just felt the need. I used miscellaneous wires(some painted) to detail, from the wires to hold toys in their package to various model detail wires. I made a wire loom on the firewall and wired the, alternator, starter, wiper motor, voltage regulator, battery, etc ,and addded some heater hoses and windshieldwasher hoses. I have a little wiring left to run along with a little paint touchup, then I can move onto the underhood fuel lines, which will run through a coolcan on the fenderwell. I am also going to try to scratch a Mallory coil box on the firewall as soon as I find a good pic.

69nova317.jpg

69nova319.jpg

I added the dual fuel pumps from the 70 BM Camaro, and ran a fuel line alongside the molded in line. I also finished the molded in brake line on the drivers side, plumbing it to the centersection of the rearend, and made a dist. block and ran lines to the rear wheelbacks. I'm thinking parking brake lines are going to have to be added since I already went this far.

69nova322.jpg

That's it for now, I should have this monster finished sometime next weekend. Thanks for dropping by.....................

No luck on the Hurst, and I didn't want to hold up the project so I just painted the kit shifter ball white and used it. I hardly even notice
