Best pickup kits for crewcab

Recommended Posts

meng do a ford f350 crewcab, not built mine yet but it looks like a good kit but a little pricey. the revell 65 chevy truck is not too bad to extend with the body lines helping a great deal. I did one with a revell front and amt 60 rear to the cab but in hindsight using 2 revell kits would have made extending the chassis go better.

It's not too hard to convert the Ford Raptor kit into a crew cab.  The hardest part is to resin copy the door handles and scribe the rear door line.

As you can tell, I'm not quite done with the crew cab.  The nice part is that you can get a regular cab and a crew cab out of the conversion.

Not much to do with the regular cab, I'm thinking about using a utility box or making a long-bed.

I have no idea how easy it would be, compared to other models, but I think Revell's 1/16 '73-'87 pickup would be awesome to stretch out. When I was a teenager back in the '80s, Chevy 4 door dualies were popular among ranchers in north Texas. Some had pretty cool custom paint. If you're going to stretch it, may as well go nuts with it. Yeah, I would love to have a 1/16 6-door Chevy.

looks like he is using the mpc deserter gm, it is one of the easier ones to convert, one I have done and would recommend.....I bought a '70's chev crew cab from RMR resin off ebay 10 yrs ago, is pretty nice, but have never received a reply back to many emails I sent wanting to buy more since then, and haven't seen any more of his crews on ebay... the resins crews are nice, but sometimes you can make your own crew cheaper with 2 kits

another fairly easy conversion is the amt line of '88-'98 chevy trucks.

they came in all diff body styles, ext-cab, std cab, sb, lb, stepper, they are like the lego of model trucks...:D they easily convert into any body style you can think of, there still pretty plentiful and cheap, and they come in glue, snap, and promo,  all interchangeable
