traditional Posted February 17, 2018 Posted February 17, 2018 (edited) I took these pics in answer to a post in the 'general' forum so since I have them, they might as well be on here as well: The D-type Jaguars were one of my favorite sports racecars (from an era when style mattered and racecars were easily identified). As well as building models, I also collect some diecasts and this 1/18 metal model (mostly stamped metal body) from EXOTO back in 2011 was without a doubt the most I've ever spent on a model (even though it was on sale at the time of my purchase), but It remains, however, the most absurdly detailed model I've ever acquired. Although some versions of the Exoto D-types are still available from Exoto, the prices are now in the stratosphere. Because of the extensive detail, the model is quite fragile and just about every time I remove it from its display case, there's some part that I have to fasten back in place. This particular car evidently won the Reims 12 hour race in 1954, driven by Whitehead and Wharton. Edited February 17, 2018 by traditional
peekay Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Back when racing cars were beautiful. Truly extraordinary level of detail.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted March 6, 2018 Posted March 6, 2018 I would pay wathever they ask if they have a model just like that of a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Sedan.
Smitty Posted March 10, 2018 Posted March 10, 2018 Just when you thought you'd seen everything. Absurdly detailed is right! Amazing.
randyc Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 That is a beautiful model. Best ones I have are the Ertl Precision 57 Chrysler 300 and Tbird. Hwy 61s approach those. But nothing as nice as an Exoto.
f1ford48 Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 absolutely AMAZING amount of detail.worth every penny.
Silver Foxx Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Thanks for posting this , great to check it out , I have a number of 1/18 Exotos ( including the Jägermeister Porsche twin set ) . I would love to have a D Type but these are now way out of my price bracket .
