Terry Jessee Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki This is an MG Automodelli resin kit. The model depicts a car that was entered in the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1950. The kit's kinda rough and needs a lot of massaging, especially around the window areas. But it's unusual, and that makes it fun. Great photoetch. Parts fit pretty well, but I think the tires are a bit oversize. I liked building it, although the windows were pretty frustrating. Terry
crispy Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Terry, that is awesome. I will agree with the look of the tire size, but all the same, it looks great. I love Ferrari's and even though this is an odd one, it certainly is worthy! Thanks for sharing. Chris
novadose71 Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 (edited) Very cool!! We used to have one of these in the storage area of the shop I worked in. It was in bare aluminum and parts boxes, it had previously caught on fire from the idiot customers cheap, yeah cheap, shop light. I always liked the look of that car. After seeing yours, I think I like them more when they're painted and put together.....Nice job Edited July 21, 2008 by novadose71
Nick F40 Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 When I saw the title I had to click and see. I absolutly love it! I like the different color and the dirtbike tires. This is just cool and I love the look. Great job and beautiful model.
Modelmartin Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 You are correct that those tires are way too big. I think they could have done a better job on the nose, too. I have never been impressed with MG's kits. You did a great job building it. I love the Belgian race cars(yellow was Belgium's national racing colors). That is one of the coolest shapes on an early Ferrari. Andy
Zoom Zoom Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Very cool model, nice to see it in yellow instead of red Funny how we've gone full circle and now complain when the tires on our models aren't skinny enough
lizardlust Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Stunning miniature, Terry - the build quality appears flawless!!! Must admit I feel odd seeing one of your creations WITHOUT a lightbar or manure in the back, tho....
novadose71 Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 (edited) I forgot about this till you asked Harry. I don't have an answer for ya but here is another goofy #2 on a yellow 250tr, if memory serves it's from Le Mans 1958 driven by Jean Beurly, pretty sure he's from Belgium. I worked on this car a couple years ago(man do I miss that job) and noticed it while researching pictures, never did find out why it's like that though, maybe it's a Belgian, or Le Mans, thing. And I never made the Belgian connection till Andy mentioned it(Duh slaps forehead )........., my Moms side of the family is full blooded Belgian, with Grandma making trips there every few years before she passed, I'll ask if anyone knows anything about it next time I talk to them.
