I have a couple of acetate bodies that I want to strip the brushed on paint and then straighten them up.

As I will be sectioning the curves out of them by cutting up the bodies, I'm not worried about heating the plastic or further distorting them. However, my question is this - What is the best and safest chemical to strip enamel paint from acetate?

Also, what is the best glue to use to repair and bond new polystyrene plastic to it?

I don't want to dunk them in just any chemical and risk ruining the composition of the acetate. Same with the adhesive.

Thanks for your help.

That's a good question.

I have heard that using the usual stripping agents, (ie. Super clean, Easy Off, etc.) will destroy acetate plastic.

I don't have an answer for you, but I would be interested to hear others solutions.
