Oldcarfan27 Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 I have a couple of acetate bodies that I want to strip the brushed on paint and then straighten them up. As I will be sectioning the curves out of them by cutting up the bodies, I'm not worried about heating the plastic or further distorting them. However, my question is this - What is the best and safest chemical to strip enamel paint from acetate? Also, what is the best glue to use to repair and bond new polystyrene plastic to it? I don't want to dunk them in just any chemical and risk ruining the composition of the acetate. Same with the adhesive. Thanks for your help.
StevenGuthmiller Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 That's a good question. I have heard that using the usual stripping agents, (ie. Super clean, Easy Off, etc.) will destroy acetate plastic. I don't have an answer for you, but I would be interested to hear others solutions. Steve
