Fat Brian Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 Has anyone tried to swap the AMT 70 Challenger chassis into the Lindberg 72 Challenger kit? The 72 body looks pretty good but the rest of the kit is a bit lacking.
Snake45 Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 I've been messing around with one from the last reissue. It's not great, but not horrible (especially considering its Palmer origins). I really don't like the nonstock "shaker" and its hole in the hood. I gotta figure out how to fix that, and then I'm gonna finish mine off as a modern day restomod.

I picked up a cheap glue bomb AMT yesterday just for the hood. The AMT hood is longer and narrower than the Lindberg, and has cowl vents near the rear edge, with the Lindberg lacks. So it's nowhere near a direct drop in, though I suppose you could make it work if you really wanted to. Was kinda surprised to see that the AMT stock Shaker hood opening is actually bigger than the Lindberg's supercharger hole. If one wanted to have an accurate stock Shaker hood on the Lindberg, the best way might be to cut the center section out of the AMT hood and graft it into the Lindberg hood. At this point, I think I'm just gonna fill the hole in the Lindberg hood and turn it into a plain flat hood.
