landman Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 As some of you may have seen I am in the process of posting my engine collection. each one gets a short description. I am stumped by the MAN 26.321 Formel Six. Can't find anything. I'd need displacement and horsepower and a bit of enlightenment: MAN is the make, which of the rest is the engine or the model? thank you
Force Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 According to the instructions the displacement is 11.41 litres and the output is 320 hp. And I googled around a bit and as the engine is from the 80's it's most likely a MAN D2566 Mk or MKF and the gearbox may well be a ZF as MAN used them a lot.

PierreR89 Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 (edited) I used to work in a MAN garage but i am not really sure what the first two numbers stand for, the last is always horsepower But somewhere in my mind i belive it stands for the maximum weight they are allowed. In this case that truck is allowed to weigh 26 tonnes with the trailer attached and loaded. So looking by a pick of the kit and seing that it is a 6x4 drivetrain then it would be correct with those numbers as their trucks that is only 4x2 is allowed a gross weight of 18 tonnes. Also from some other pics i see straight away that the gearbox is a ZF. Cant help you with the exact engine name as i dont have access to those repairmanuals anymore. Force Posted July 13, 2018 Posted July 13, 2018 I'm by no means an expert on MAN but I saw the MAN D2566 MK and MKF was available in the 26.321 before I answered in this topic earlier, it's 11.41 litres and was available with 320 horsepower, so I assumed it had to be that engine.
