Dave McFly Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 I would like to put a LS1 or LS2, etc into the new 69 nova SS kit (yup that means the kit supplied 350 will be up for grabs, check the appropriate thread soon). off the top of my head only the C5/C6 vettes have them but they have the transaxle and the 'torque tube'. is there any cars or truck kits that have a LSx series engine?
Rob Hall Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Maybe one of the Revell 4th gen Camaro or Firebird kits?
gasman Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 The Polar Lights GTO has a LS1 IIRC. but its a little soft on the details. The Revell 98 Firebird has an LS1 The Revell 02 Camaro has an LS1 The Revell Chevy SSR has an LS2
crispy Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Polar Lights GTO is actually an LS1 from 2004, but the Drift version, although the same kit engine would be an all-aluminum 6.0L Gen IV LS2 V8 engine with 400 hp and 400 lb-ft torque. Either way the LS engines will look the same on the outside. I will agree the GTO engine is soft, but you have that big cover over it. With a little extra work though you can make it look realistic. Really depends on what you want. Me, I'd do the LS7 out of a Z06..... Chris
gasman Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 correction the Revell SSR has an LS1. the LS2 came out in 2005, and the Revell kits an 04. The AMT Concept Camaro should have an LS2.....but that engine sucks, and should'nt even be considered. IIRC the V8 in the Revell 99 Silverado is an LS1. (but don't quote me on that) The only good LS2 that has been tooled up is in the Revell C6 Corvette kits.
