My Dad had many, many hours in a Pilatus Turbo Porter. (I got to ride along a couple times.) He'd have been impressed. B)

Pretty cool. It was seeing the Pilatus in action that really got me interested in STOL, especially with turbines. The hottest things I'd seen up to that point were Maules and Super Cubs.

I got to ride along with him once on an airshow demo. The airplane was empty and the show was fairly close to home, so didn't have much fuel on board, so it was light. Dad strapped a couple hundred pounds of lead shot in the rear of the fuselage, far back as he could get it, "to make it do what I want it to do." B)

Another time he had to fly up to Cape Cod to pick up some company bigwig. He had to stop at JFK for some reason along the way, and I thought, "Oh great, we'll probably circle around here for an hour or something waiting to land," but no, we went right in through some kind of "STOL back door" and landed in what looked like basically a parking lot.  Amazing!
