This is Tony Stewart’s rookie year car, 1999. This is built as the car he got his first career win in, at Richmond. I built this many years ago but recently refreshed it with Slixx decals to repair deteriorated ones and some paint touch up. Paint is Tamiya TS-12, and the decals are a combo of Slixx and kit. I used the kit decals for the large white portions of the body, and to be honest they worked pretty well.

I love it Steve even though I was never a Stewart fan.  His car always did look cool.  He always seemed like a jerk in the car and in the spotlight but I saw him at the 24 Hours of Daytona back around 2005 standing next to one of my favorite drivers, Jimmy Johnson, and Johnson wouldn't even acknowledge that we were standing there but Tony was very friendly.  I also saw Jamie McMurray there and he wasn't very friendly either.

I also got to go to the driver meeting and ended up standing right next to Paul Newman.. that was cool.

Excellent build. I saw Tony Stewart at a car show in Houston, the year before he ran the Cup series. He was walking around with Steve Park, and nobody knew him either. My wife and I followed him around, and he came to an area where kids were playing some kind of game with remote control cars. He played the game with a little kid who had no idea who he was. It was strange seeing some one, as famous as he became, before he became famous. The car show advertised that he and Park were going to be there, and that was one of the reasons we went. I knew him from the IRL series, and Busch series, but most of the people there had no idea who he was.
