Scalper Posted August 4, 2018 Posted August 4, 2018 This is my first ship model. And first time weathering. It’s 1/350 scale. It’s the uss sanfransico ship
Jim B Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Looks like a nice kit, but I will say that unless you're doing a derelict or a sunken ship you have WAY too much rust on her.
bismarck Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 (edited) Looks great!! I'm a big fan of U.S. Navy heavy cruisers, especially the New Orleans class, but most of the rust and severe weathering takes place on the hull on an active duty warship. Work parties aboard ship would be kept busy chipping and painting all metal surfaces from the main deck up, and holy stoning the decks or applying deck blue camo stain to the wood. bismarck Posted August 21, 2018 Posted August 21, 2018 It looks good!! If a ship is on active duty in a combat zone, the crews would be at battle stations more often than doing ship maintainance. The San Fransisco was at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, and she was on active duty pretty much non stop right up till the night she was almost sunk off Guadalcanal in a night action with the Japanese. Shortly Before that battle took place, the after fire control station was crashed by a shot down Japanese dive bomber. Bent that area up some, but she was still on active deployment, so she stayed on station. That night action off Savo island sound produced 3 Medals of Honor for members of the Frisco's crew. She's quite a ship with a rich history. Your building her just fine Andre. Nice to see a fellow ship modeler here.
Scalper Posted August 30, 2018 Author Posted August 30, 2018 Got some more work done. First structure in place not glued yet
Scalper Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 Got a little bit more done. Now that I have glue again
Scalper Posted November 8, 2019 Author Posted November 8, 2019 Teaser pic of some progress all comments welcomed
ThreeThree Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 Yeah loving these ships and this one is awesome. Great job on the weathering. I like your style in models in general and this one is great. The guns look real good as well as the life rafts and dingys.
