You'll need to use good old fashioned DOT3 which is organic in nature and will take off paint. Good to know. It took some off but didn’t do a super job. I’ll grab some Dot3 this weekend.
Rider Posted September 1, 2018 Posted September 1, 2018 Sucks when a nice paint job goes bad from a reaction. Good luck with the recovery. Dot3 is all ya need, no need to buy the expensive Dot4, even cheap dollar store stuff works great.

Dann Tier Posted September 2, 2018 Posted September 2, 2018 Hope it turns out better for you......you got it, bud!!
Ich_Will Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 After much work and a bit of creative cursing, we are back to primer. The brake fluid caused cracking in the clear windshield (permanently affixed due to the crushed A pillar from its life in a hobby shop) so it will never be a perfect model.
Ich_Will Posted September 4, 2018 Author Posted September 4, 2018 I think this turned out better than the first attempt.

I'm pretty sure I have a windscreen fix for you!!…...I will draw-up a diagram as to how I would fix it ……..I will send it to you tomorrow ASAP!!…..don't get bummed, or give up....I got your back, bud!!
Dann Tier Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Hey, bud!, I looked up the instructions for your kit, and heres an idea for you that I came up with. If it were me, this is what i'd try.... you just need some thin clear sheet styrene.

Ich_Will Posted September 15, 2018 Author Posted September 15, 2018 A-pillar snapped while trying to cut out the windshield. Doomed from the get go so I went to the LHS and snagged one in a ratty looking box, had the clerk open it so I could verify condition. Paid less than $20 and we are back in business.

Ich_Will Posted October 7, 2018 Author Posted October 7, 2018 Well, the wife cleaned out under the coffee table and this magazine made its way to the top. Looks like I’m taking this kit in a new direction. Time to change the interior and hunt for a light blue metallic.
montelsc Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Nice kit was it ever completed ?? love to see the finished pics

To summarize; initial body issues, paint problems, more body issues, new body, newly discovered color combo... hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll have it painted and the interior redone.

Went to do a repaint of the interior and while lightly flexing the roll bar to remove it it snapped in half. The core looked weird. This kit has some plastic issues. Looks like I’ll be using the interior of the second kit. Oh well... Edited October 8, 2018 by Ich_Will
El Caballo Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 Best Mercedes Benz I had was a 1970 280S, worst was a 1988 260E, my 280 got stolen and one of the happiest days I had was when I took the license plates off the 260.

Oh well... …...that is why I usually always buy two kits of each car I build!, you never know when you might need one, and you don't have to stop production waiting.
Ich_Will Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Well, I know we’ve been here before and I feel like I may jinx it by posting a picture of the body color... but here she is.
Rider Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 That colour blue is really sharp, and the paint looks like it turned out great.

Thanks guys. The color turned out just as I had hoped and there’s no dust/particulates in it. The photos really don’t capture the hue properly. It’s a bit lighter in person
