I use music wire for the antenna and make the bases from small pieces of sprue. Chuck the sprue up in a Dremel or drill and turn it to size and shape using a new hobby knife blade.

Drilling completely through the base allows the music wire to act as the mounting pin as well for greater strength.IMG_1348E.thumb.jpg.b32aae4e9c6fe4035fbf9026ea05f5f2.jpgIMG_1346E.thumb.jpg.d2dd44172dfc48de9861b4663e00fd8c.jpg

Interesting.   Thanks for the post.

I have some .015" music wire that I use on my micro indoor electric R/C planes.  Not sure if that is too thick ?

i just pick whatever size looks scale-like for the antenna that I want.

A set of micro drills and a pin vise work great for drilling out the mounts.

Use whatever looks good to you, after all it is your model and I really don't see too many models out there that are built and 100% correct. After all it is a hobby and it is supposed to be FUN.

An inexpensive source for antenna material is mig welding wire , smaller diameter the better , you can buy small spools for a good price or if you know someone who uses a mig machine , you can get them to save you the end of role wire that is left in the liner at spool change!
