After jumpin from one project to the next here's one that I haven't hit a slump with...(yet) But it's going together so smooth that I don't want to stop! It started out as an AMT Coca Cola 1940 Ford that I had build in my early years of building (7 or 8 years ago) that was in desperate need of attention. This is one of those no initial idea or plan builds, just add as I go. I started out looking at a '32 Ford and wanted to shorten this up a bit so I cut the entire trunk area off. I sectioned the body, not sure how much, but I like the looks of it. Then I redid the rear fenders by adding the back half of a '57 Corvette quarter panel to the back half of the fenders to give it a nice rounded look. Then I used the rear roll pan from the Vette and turned it so that the curves on each end curved up to make a nice space for the dual exhaust to come out when I get to that point. By turning the pan like this it made a nice belly on it, I looked at it and it had the right shape for a spare tire. I already had an idea of what I wanted the trunk to look like so I cut a rounded groove out in the pan. The trunk is wide but stubby and I like it. I cut out a section from the bottom half of it and stuck a spare tire holder in there and shaped it to the curve of the trunk. Ok, now to the front end. I had parts from an AMT '40 willys and I saw the tilt front and thought it would be perfect. I modified the grille opening and found some steel mesh that was once a car speaker grille and cut out the basic shape and formed it to the curves of the front end and found a nice center bar with what will be parking lights in the parts box. I cut off the back section of the willys fenders off of the willys truck body and glued them on to the clip. Also cut out the rear window from the willys truck and now its the back window for a '40 Ford custom. I had to cut the hood out since the front was all one piece and shorten the height since it was way to tall. Then i had to lengthen it a bit so I cut the back section from the Ford hood and glued it together. They both have pretty similar curvatures so not much to hassle with there. That's the summary of most of the body work, now for the interior. Ill be using the interior from the Vette. I had to shorten the dash so I thought Id have some fun with it so i cut it and glued it back so it make a V pointing inward towards the rest of the interior. So if you were to look at the car from the top (being able to see through the top) the dash and cowl area would form a diamond shape. I thought that was kind of neat. But anywho that's as far as I got on the interior. The frame is from the Corvette but the front will have a straight axle from the revell '29 ford pickup kit. Now for what powers the beast. Ill be using the Old Rocket motor from the Willys kit and since the front end of this thing is pretty long I think Ill be able to use the direct crank driven supercharger from Carl Caspers Undertaker dragster. The tires are from the revell 29 ford pickup and the wheels are from the revell '67 GTX. Ok, now for the pics... finally. Some are kind of dark but bear with me. He we go

In with both feet!

This is the "money shot" that shows this build holds huge promise:

Love the rear window and the uplifted rear fenders, too.

Keep on buildin'! :)

I forgot to mention what I had in mind for colors. For the body I think a darker metallic purple with either gold pinstripes with gold interior or do something different with the purple and red pinstripes with a white and red interior. But thats all way in the future so who knows. Im not trying to brag or anything but the pics really dont do this thing justice so far, it looks alot better in person...even though it is about 50 different colors now. haha

Thanks Mark, I know where you're coming from about the spare tire holder, Im not absolutely crazy about them but since Ive never really seen many customs with them i figured id do it just to be different. It looks different from different angles, one angle it looks really good, then the next angle not so much. It does look decent with the spare tire in the holder. I think ill keep goin and see if it still fits in when i get closer to completion.

Dirk all i can say is wow. I love it  . I would have never thought of that. So is it going to be a street rod. Traditional custom dragster or what. Looks sweet. Is that a vet frame under it?

I think if ya dropped the front of the roof a bit it would really enhance the stance which is ###### near prefect now as is.

As we all can see, you aint afeard to cut
