Mj-Styro Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Turning a MPC 1981 Ridge runner Bronco into a 1992.... Have the body almost done and ready for the first coat of primer. but i am missing the axles so this may get delayed for alittle while. The black lower 1/4 panels are from a 92 short box which i cut up to fit,and had to cut in the new taillite area.........one i got everything to fit....
Mj-Styro Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 I have the body in two coats of primer now, so i wil be able to check for body work needed etc..... Will also be removing the side scripts, and putting the door lines back in.
Mj-Styro Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Well i have it painted, and wet sanded.still debating wether to add white in the middle of the body (which i am leaning torwards alot) But i did paint the lower half of the body white then painted the whole thing with red metallic........gives it a suttle tu-tone now kinda a orangish color on the bottom.....
Mj-Styro Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Final Clear coats on,should be able to polish her some more.... The Upper wrap around over the roof i puttied in the other day and got it all smoothed out and it looks blended in well.......also the back door edge i did get back in.... Except for lookin inside and see the cut body lines you cant tell on the outside i used three different kits to get this body........
Mj-Styro Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Alittle pressed for time so i wont be able to go into details to much, just wanted to get the new pics out.....
Mj-Styro Posted August 13, 2008 Author Posted August 13, 2008 Just about done with this project and its taken shape real well!!! I had to borrow the front 4x4 axles from another build i did last year till the new ones come in,and wanted to move along on this project... A run down on the list of parts used...(81 bronco MPC) Front engine member from 81 bronco grafted in front 4x4 axle from 81 bronco rear sub frame from 81 bronco transfercase from 81 bronco interior tub was cut and grafted the 92 front to it, and had to fill in the floor on the 81 bronco to make it flat..... engine is from 92 kit reworked the aod for the trasnfercase to work. 92 ford rearend cut to fit (narrowed it a tad) need to locate a rear bumper for it and get the decals in place under the hood and i can call it done. the back cap is alittle warped so once i get some gear in the back i will be able to glue it down..
Eshaver Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Considering the fact that I have spent considerable time under the hood of those trucks, im devoutly impressed with your conversion. you seem to have nailed every detail too. If you dont get a first place on that job, P M me I want to know what would beat it. Ed Shaver
gasman Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 looks good Styro. I'm thinking about doing the same conversion. you've given me inspiration. looks good.
The Madhatter Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Man that thing is awesome. Great job! I really like the first set of pics when its first coming together cause in the rear quaters it looks lie you first had to fix the typical ford rust out over the back wheels.
Mj-Styro Posted August 14, 2008 Author Posted August 14, 2008 Thanks Guys! i did manage to get the decals on it yesterday morning, but thats as far as i have gotten...........question tho the grill inserts? what color are they.gun metal grey or? hope to get to it later today so i can get it finished........ Hopefully the next time i post it will be finished LOL gona try.......

Harold Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Great job! I started something like that years ago, but it was never finished. BTW, you shoulda painted it white with some blood spots on the driver's door handle .

Rob Hall Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 That looks really sharp..I've been thinking of doing one...either a white OJ edition, or a bronze and gold two tone like the one I had back in the day..
Mj-Styro Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 Well i sat here and thought and thought some more.................then decided NAaaaaaaaaaw dont want areg rear bumper i decided i was gona build a western style bumper! i know they are for pickups but heck this is a work truck! belongs to the local limber yard LOL so i fiqured why not! here it is roughed in........then more pics of it.....
my80malibu Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Thanks Guys! i did manage to get the decals on it yesterday morning, but thats as far as i have gotten...........question tho the grill inserts? what color are they.gun metal grey or? hope to get to it later today so i can get it finished........ I also sanded down the blue oval, Then used a photoetched peice from the MCG 32 ford PE set. You have done a fantastic job on this build. Thanks, Gabriel.
