Did AMT really produce this kit?

Actually, an image search I did on Google led right back here to this other Feb 2017 MCM blog post and the ones following it. Can't easily find the "Hemmings" article referred to in one of the posts, but I found a 2014 Hot Rod article containing the photo that was apparently used for the fake box art.

I saw that photo too. That’s why I’m wondering if it’s fake. I was talking to guy earlier that says he has it.

The font is all wrong, and inconsistent with anything used by AMT, so that alone should end any debate. Not to mentioned there's an image of the real vehicles, which was something AMT didn't start doing until the late '70s/early '80s.
