R.D.F. Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 Hi I bought a AMT 66 Nova Pro Street kit and want to back half a Revell 41 Willys gasser. I see where I should cut off the rear floor pan from the Nova but it looks like I'm going to have to add styrene to the back of it to make the round contour to fit the Willys body. Or am I overthinking the wheel on this? Thanks
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I believe you're correct...you should just have to fill out the trunk floor. But the '41 Willys is on a full frame to start with. Wouldn't be easier to transplant the rear suspension setup from the Nova into the Willys? Or are the frame rails on the Willys too far apart? I have both kits to look at, but I'm away from the model shop right now.
afx Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 (edited) Wouldn't this be an easier starting point than the Gasser kit? Edited December 19, 2018 by afx
R.D.F. Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 (edited) Yes that would be the easier way but I have an old gasser kit I'm looking to resurrect. I might even see if I can use the front steering from a Nascar kit I have. Those instructions do give me an idea to help fabricate a better Willys frame than in the gasser kit. I forgot about that kit entirely. Here's another option: that complete frame and suspension setup is occasionally available for very little money (compared to pirating the parts out of a kit that will be rendered pretty much useless) on eBay.

How would you word it on Ebay to find?

I just tried "Willys frame" and "street rod frame", and nothing came up right now. This vendor often sells chassis from various kits for projects like yours. https://www.ebay.com/usr/n2flying27?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 WAIT... Here you go... https://www.ebay.com/itm/R41W-41-WILLYS-CHASSIS-Model-Car-Mountain-1-25-/142763929723?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10#viTabs_0
R.D.F. Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 (edited) Looking at it right now. Would save me some time. Would have to figure out maybe wheels and tires. Thanks I can't find it in my Ebay account but I believe I bought a Hemi engine from this seller. Edited December 19, 2018 by R.D.F.
