I'm wanting to add shackles to my Scout II and I have never seen any in 1/25th scale and was hoping someone knew of a place to get them???

Heres a pic of a few....

Looks like a pretty easy item to scratchbuild. Solder for the loop part (flatten the ends before bending to get the slightly flared shape) and brass or styrene tube or rod for the crossmember, wire bent into a loop for the eye.

I agree, looks like something I would at least attempt to scratch. Otherwise look at 1/35 military stuff.

If I can find a big enough shackle in 1/35 then that would work, but I doubt I could find the size I want. I will probably just try to scratchbuild one..... A BIG ONE!!!! Maybe some 35 tons like the ones I have in the shed..... Or the 55 TON BIG BOYS!!!!

I don't know, they had some pretty big ones on armor vehicles.

my first instinct was to ask a woman, since they are the onces always shackling us down

but then i thought, maybe you can find one in a big rig kit ?

;) HAHAHA!!! Thats actually where I first looked.... I looked for aftermarket stuff and didn't see anything that caught my eye, even the chains don't look to scale.... I'm thinking that I could make it a 4 piece deal from plastruct and PE... First, bend the correct size tubing in a horseshoe, next, take some BIG round tubing and slice a piece to the correct width, carve it round, drill a hole for the pin, then, make my pin from some plastruct rod, add some PE bolt head to it, last, I could use a hood pin kit for the bolt pin..... thats quite a bit actually, but it could be the difference between stock to custom. I am also gonna make an offroad bumper for it too. I went through the internet today copying pics of finished and in progress tube bumpers for reference and it also translates into directions on how to build a plastic tube version compared to steel. Only difference, we weld with glue instead of flux core. :D:D THANKS FOR THE TIPS GUYS, I'm sure there is someone out there who will simplify my idea, and I am very willing to listen... :P

Since they're in Great Britain, they use British Pounds.

When I've bought things overseas (Great Britain or Europe), I use this site for converting dollars to pounds or Euros.........it gives you the current rate for the day.

If I were ordering from them, I'd give 'em a ring on the phone and use my credit card-------true it costs a bit to call overseas (I've done it on my cellphone) but if you mail it, it can take a long time 'til it gets there! I'm not so sure about sending a money order overseas the way things are now.

I'd also ask if you could send the money via PayPal........if they've got an email addy, they can receive money. :P

HTH!

If that is from KFS I've heard from other that ordering is very easy.

STS used to carry KFS stuff but the exchange rates are not very good right now so they stopped. I have not ordered directly from KFS but the quality of their stuff is very good. They have a set of photo etch chain binders that not only look great, they actually work as tiny chain binders.

The load tighteners look and work like the REAL thing!!!!! I'm gonna wait til I have enough $$$ to order about $50 or $60 worth at once, that way I dont have to mess with the overseas deal more than once.... I was also looking at their bull bumpers in 1/24 and thinking I could probably cut and resize to fit the Scout II. THEY HAVE SOOOO MANY NICE LOOKING THINGS!!! Their air suspensions look sooo real! They also have Rockwell axle kits!! AARONW!!!! YOU ARE THE MAN, MAN!!!!
