stitchdup Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 (edited) Been working on this for a few weeks. It started as a pro touring build but somewhere along the way it morphed into something else . It was always going to be stanced and widebody, just maybe not this extreme. The wide arches were made using plastic spoons and the original arch edges. The suspension is as low as it was possible to get it without cutting the front inner arches. I have fitted some hobby design front brakes but they are hardly visable in these pics. The engine still has to get a turbo fitted which I fully expect and sorta hope will hang over the radiator as it looks kinds tough. It was originally going to have a saleen style paint job but that has now changed to the yellow, red and blue cop car from mad max Edited January 27, 2019 by stitchdup
Intmd8r Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I like the direction and craftsmanship. Neat idea with the spoons !
Ich_Will Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Crazy! I'm diggin' it. Keep up the good work.
Plastic_Passion Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 You sir are crazy or a genius. I thought I knew what you were doing with the spoons. But the other half of me thought... that's gonna need some tweaking but totally doable. Then... 1 spoon becomes 2.... what's this? What a twist! I like it!

I had to split the spoon to get the curvature for the arches. Originally I was going to use it as one piece but it just wasn't quite there
stitchdup Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) Got some paint on today and since pull over didn't really fit the build I went with give up backwards. I'll be putting blue lights in the grille in place of the spotlights to go with the very loose theme I mistakenly painted the rear bumper red but its an easy fix I'm going to have to take a chance on the blue paint as so far its all all duplicolour acrylics, but the only blue I have thats not metallic is an enamel. I have a little overspray and a small chip to repair before that though Edited January 25, 2019 by stitchdup

Protouringjoe Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Nice! Love that spoon trick, definitely going to try thatÂ

Love that spoon trick, definitely going to try that If you look in afew differnet dollar/pound shops you should be able to find a size to suit, (i bought all the sizes) and if your lucky wont need to split them. Be careful when buying them too as while most are styrene some are a different plastic. Also avoid the coloured ones, and those with glitter in, something in them reacts with the paint no matter how careful you are to put a barrier between the paint layers. Also some of the knife handles make great running boards for 30s customs
stitchdup Posted January 26, 2019 Author Posted January 26, 2019 Got the blue on this morning. Needs a couple of touch ups on the white stripe but 2 layers of finger nail striping tape will fix that, but it will have to wait until the enamel hardens a lot more Just the lower bumpers, mirror mounts and window trim to paint black now then I can finish off the engine
stitchdup Posted January 27, 2019 Author Posted January 27, 2019 Engine is pretty near finished, just a little touch up once the rest is together
