misterNNL Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I just bought a resin '39 Chevy 4 Dr sedan from Star Models to build a model of one of my dad's real cars. I need a '39 kit to complete it and never having owned any of these kits I would like to find one with stock hubcaps. Any suggestions ?
Casey Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) None of the 1/24 Monogram '39 Chevy kits ever included stock hubcaps/wheel covers. Looking at the brochure, it appears they all came equipped with steel wheels and small chrome plated (or stainless steel?) hubcaps. If these are 16", I think the Goodyear Airhwheel tires from the 1/25 Revell '37 Ford Pickup and Panel Truck kits would be a good choice: Edited February 1, 2019 by Casey
stavanzer Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 I've seen the stock Wheels/Tires from the AMT '37 Chevy used too. Might be worth a look. The Stock 6 Cyl I-6 from the Monogram (not Revell) 1953 Chevy can be used in the '39 also. The AMT '37 has a nice 6 too, but it might be small in the '39 engine bay. I've not tried it myself.
misterNNL Posted February 1, 2019 Author Posted February 1, 2019 Thanks for the tips. This will not be a high level detail build. It will represent the first car I remember my dad owning in the 1940's. Plan on adding a trailer hitch to it and displaying as a tow vehicle with one of my many antique travel trailers.
