ismaelg Posted April 15, 2019 Author Posted April 15, 2019 Hello, I received a private inquiry about the weathering. Since there are no secrets here, this is what I did: -A mist coat of acrylic brown. -I did a paper template of the windshield wiper sweep. Put it in place and do another light pass. -On this particular car, the back was the dirtiest after the race, so I did another pass on the back only. -A single low pressure (about 15-18 psi) splatter pass, head on, of acrylic dark grey (almost black). -Finally a black wash with a brush under the fuel fillers, lower front on the doors and air vent. I did not invent this. I was inspired and encouraged by Jim Drew to try it in my C7R after countless discussions on the topic. Bless the internet! Thanks,
RAMBENNA Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 very fine indeed , looks fantastic and detail is awesome
bytownshaker Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 Ismael thank you for letting us follow along with your build of this piece of history. The final result was truly beautiful. Ed
58 Impala Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) Nice build, nice detail. I just got a copy of this kit, going to use the S27 PE set and carbon decals. I've never tried weathering, I'm better at shiny. Going to buy one of Indycals new 2019 Lemans decal sets. I also plan on using some of your building tips. Edited June 14, 2019 by 58 Impala
