Wen the Slant Six from R evell was completed a group of

Revell employees met at a service station in El Monte Califoenia to test is out..It was fully assembeled

with the valve cover left off. The electric motor ( a drill ) was then attached to the tailshaft AND TURNED ON. "The RPM's of the motor were slowly increased an the engine finely broke down when it it an eccess of 11,000 RPM. This was accomplised by not using the radiator. I big pile of oil cans, with their lids off, were dumped onto the engine while it was running ( neatness didnt count ). The only reason why the engine finaly failed was the fact that the camshaft had snapped in two.

When we were kids, my older brother got the Visible V-8 for Christmas. He took almost all of Christmas vacation carefully assembling it, and when it was finished, he had a nice, working replica. However, he decided it just wasn't fast enough with the little electric motor and C-cell batteries. Soooo...he hooked the electric motor to an old electrical cord and plugged it in. The results were dramatic- that motor was pushing some RPM's for about five minutes. That's when a rod shot through the right side valve cover and the motor siezed. At the same time, that electric motor fried out, and our room smelled like ozone for the rest of the day. But wow, what a show.
