stevez Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 I'm thinkin of making the 427 66 fairlane as stock or ss drag car. Wondering what could be removed or added back then? Rear seat out? replace front bench seat with buckets?, inside door panels removed? Add roll bar? Modify dash? take out center console? What size rear slicks? take off exhaust pipes, mufflers? Is there a website with NHRA AHRA rules back then? Sorry for all the questions, thanks.
bobcrozier Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Try and get a hold of a Book Entitled "SuperStock - Drag Racing the Family Sedan", by Larry Davis - it's cram full of pictures and facts covering Stock, SuperStock, A/FX over that entire period. It will answer a ton of questions and is a ###### fine read to boot! Failing that you need to have a word with Walt Frey (6bblbird) who posts on here, who is the font of all knowledge on these early drag matters. He has helped me out a couple of times before now. The book:- Superstock - Drag racing the Family Sedan Regarding specifics in SS there was very liitle you could do regarding the interior. Certainly as time went on rules were relaxed a bit, but it is a bit of a minefield. You could render the model in matchrace mode were indivdual track owners set the rules!! Bob
