It's okay Alan!  Many people post before looking at all the previous comments.  Thank you!

I have been rethinking my paint choice for the body.  In my mind, the British Green is ultra glossy and I don't really want that.  It needs to be a bit more subdued.  I decided on changing from Tamiya British Green to Polly Scale GN Big Sky Blue with a Tamiya Gloss Clear coat.  This color shouldn't be that glossy.  I have been researching what engine is in this Land Rover and I have come to the conclusion that it is a 2.25 Ltr. Petrol (gasoline) engine.  But, what is the second smaller hole in the engine block?  Most of the pictures I have looked at don't show the side of the engine clearly.  The larger front hole is for a oil tube which is in the kit, but the smaller hole is for a distributor that is not included in the kit or listed on the instructions.  I can find a distributor and mount in my parts box and drill it for four plug wires and an ignition coil wire.

the distributor goes in a slightly different position above the oil filter,it was driven off the camshaft.

That is a better picture than what I have been able to find lately.  Most of the pictures I have found are in engine bays or are surrounded by junk.  Thank you for posting that picture Geoff!

I would really like to get one of these kits, but do not want to spend the $100+ that they go for on eBay.

Nice work so far, will be watching this build!

Revell is releasing a Land Rover 109 Station Wagon kit at some point.  I prefer the shorter wheelbase 88 as this is what I think of when the name is mentioned.

We can always hope for a reissue?

Keep hoping, it'll never happen now that they have the 109 version coming out.

My only hope for the 88" Rover is that the tooling MIGHT have been in the batch of old Revell/Monogram tooling that Atlantis Model bought. But, there has been no word from Atlantis on exactly what they have so, I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to come back.

I' d assume that the tool is gone, as many have speculated, and that we will never see the kit back again. So, if you really want one, pony up for it, or do without.

My sentiments exactly!

I got the 2.25 Ltr. 4 cylinder engine wired and mostly assembled, I just need add the oil filler tube.  Then I discovered what the second smaller hole was for in the engine block...there are two nubs on the back of the base of the oil filler tube!  I guess I'll have to move the distributor over towards the center of the block and drill a hole for it.  I must have been tired last night when I painted the exhaust system before I painted the frame.  Well, I'll paint the frame and then paint the exhaust system...again!

Looks nice!  Good job!

The chassis is done until I can paint the body and install it onto the chassis.  The body is ready for primer and paint.

I got the body, hood and doors in a coat of Polly Scale GN Big Sky Blue which is a close match to Land Rover Marine Blue.  The color is a tad darker than what you see here.  The flash washed out the color a little.

Thanks Lou!  It's getting there...

I painted the the Land Rover grille with Tamiya X-18 Semi Gloss Black and the silver trim with a silver Sharpie.  A mock up to check the fitment of the body on the chassis.  Looking good!  I left the coil wire long since the ignition coil is mounted on the firewall and not on the engine.  So far, so good!

Another mock up to check body fitment since a few items were slightly warped.  I detailed painted the engine compartment.  One of the warped pieces was the roof top.  I have been bending the roof slightly in the opposite direction to remove the warp.

I clearcoated the Land Rover this afternoon.  This is two mist coats of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear and it darkened the color quite a bit.

I have been assembling the Land Rover Series III this afternoon.  I got the hood mounted on its hinge, the interior has been assembled and I has all, if not, most all of the parts painted and ready to go.  The Tamiya Gloss Coat is not too shiny which is what I was hoping for.  Assembly so far has been a breeze...no surprises!
